Holly Hunter, an American actress and film producer is known for her acclaimed performances in movies like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. Holly Hunter has won numerous awards such as an Oscar for her film Piano. Her acting career began on Broadway through a myriad of Broadway as well as Off Broadway initiatives. Enthusiastic about acting from her high school days, she played Helen Keller in a play in the fifth grade. She became deaf in one ear following a bout of mumps but did not allow this handicap to hinder her determination to become an actress. She was a drama major at the college before moving from Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania to New York City to follow her dream. Through a random encounter, she got stuck in an elevator and met the playwright Beth Henley and the two worked together on the Broadway Crimes of the Heart and became Hunter's debut. After that, she was then moved from New York to Los Angeles and tried to find the roles in films. The film, Swing Shift, she landed the role of a back-up. For the last 30 years she's been on several TV shows and movies. Holly Hunter received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and she also received The Women in Film Lucy Award.
